When she lowered her mouth, intentionally leaving him with a kiss that left her breathless, she pulled back just far enough to stare into his eyes. “I’m just trying to be polite by giving you a break and then I’ll be wanting more. Not unsatisfied lover. Greedy.”

Sebastian pushed his hands into her hair. “Fuck being polite,” he muttered before branding another kiss on her lips.

“I’ve changed my mind. You’re going to kill me,” she complained. Her eyes were unfocused, her breathy statement almost unintelligible.

He ran his lips over the sensitive skin of her thighs. Alice twisted beneath his scorching touch, almost as if he branded her with his mouth, a moan spilling from her in approval. “Would it be such a horrible way to die?”

Bast clenched his jaw, fighting for control of his body. He tried to distract himself. “I would stop if you asked me, Alice. It would kill me but I would stop.”

Growling, he pushed up. Demanded his body to heed the command to rise. There was a split-second of victory, when he was certain he could move without collapsing again. But as he looked toward the back door, figuring it would only take half a dozen steps to make it inside, his vision narrowed. And pain exploded down his back.

Bast screamed, unable to hold back the cry of being tortured by a body that was no longer under his control.

Walking with the silken grace he’d adopted after becoming a warrior, he changed direction to go to the kitchen. There was a disquiet within him and perhaps a good old fashioned snack of cookies and milk would help calm what ailed him. Of course, it didn’t take a psychiatrist to tell him that the munchies had little to do with food or even blood.

“What’s gotten into you?” he muttered to himself as he stood at the large butcher block island. When was the last time a woman—damn it, especially a human—had made him feel this way?

There was a full sleeve of Chips Ahoy sitting in the pantry, untouched, but Bast knew he could plow through a dozen of them and that achy craving wouldn’t be touched.

“Not here,” he said, his voice rough.

The words managed to penetrate the haze of her mind. She kept stroking him. Memorizing the length of his promise. “Even if I want it?”

He nibbled down the length of her neck, and each stroke of his tongue over the spot where he’d twice bitten her before sent a bolt of awareness through her. Alice’s back snapped straight, pleasure and heat and greedy need making her fingers curl into the material of his shirt. When he’d drawn from her last, she’d been prepared for the pain, but it never came. The first and last time he’d bitten that place, the passion he aroused in her became a living thing, a part of her and him, creating a union from them both.

Alice made quick work of the buttons of his shirt, needing to feel all that warmth beneath her hands. His skin against hers.

At my day job, we have a “use it or lose it” policy when it comes to vacation hours. And silly me, I’m one of those nuts who never takes time off. So every year at this time, I’m in a mad dash to use up my leave because there’s no way in hell I’m just handing it back to them. So I’ve been off since last Thursday and don’t go back until Monday. Supposedly I’m spending this time writing, but that’s pretty much a lie. lol. I’m still in my 2011 rut and for some reason, missing my dog even harder this particular week.

So here’s what I have been doing:

1. PASSION AROUSED – If it wasn’t for Six Sentence Sunday, I’d probably put this story aside despite the fact I like it. It just seems the more I write, the more I realize this sucker’s going to be long. Like 80K words long. My longest to date is 58K. Wish me luck.
2. NEATLY TANGLED – I put this one down about a year ago after getting stuck. For some reason I can’t remember, I read over it again recently and couldn’t believe how well, good, it is! So For every 1K words I write on PA, I write 1K on NT. *shrug* The system’s working.
3. I pre-ordered Lover Mine by JR Ward. Pre-ordered. So that means it’s been out about a year now? Yeah. So it’s been sitting on my nightstand this entire time. Finally picked it up and have started reading it. I’m simultaneously, on my Kindle, reading Provoke Me by Cari Quinn and Blaze by Joanne Ross.
4. I was participating in NaNoWriMo again this year, but with only 15K words done on the 22nd day of November, it doesn’t look like I’ll be winning this year. lol. That’s ok.
5. Lastly, I’m getting ready to attend my first LeatherFet with Eliza Gayle. I’ll bring you the details of that adventure when I get back. It should be a doozy!
6. Oh! And how could I forget that I’m waiting on edits to come to me for a Christmas short from Cobblestone Press entitled DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY as well as waiting to hear on a submission decision for NO GREATER JOY. Wish me luck.

Bast studied her face one last time. Visually caressing the beauty mark on her cheek, the swell of her lip, the twin marks on her neck. The heat remained at bay, but the urge to kiss her one more time, to taste her mouth swelled inside him.

“Come here,” he said, his voice husky.

Something in those pretty blue eyes flashed, and the slow, sly grin she gave him could have made the coldest heart go up in a ball of flame. “No,” she whispered.
