Six Sentence Sunday

#sixsunday is being intimate in PASSION AROUSED, my vampire romance, still in progress.

He tasted her with quick strokes of his tongue. Teasing laps. She pushed her fingers into his hair, curling them around the short strands. The space between her thighs widened as she pressed his mouth closer to her.

It was with great pleasure he dipped into her channel, pulling the pungent moisture she leaked. He kissed her intimately, tasting the exquisite secret of her body.

Blurb

His music moves the world. Can his love move her heart?

Nick Blackthorne knows all about words of love. They’re the reason he’s the world’s biggest rock star. The irony? He turned his back on love a long time ago, lured away by the trappings of fame.

An invitation to a friend’s wedding is a stark reminder of how meaningless his life has become. When he enters that church, there’s only one woman he wants on his arm—the one he walked out on a lifetime ago. But first he has to find her, even if all she accepts from him is an apology.

Kindergarten teacher Lauren Robbins once had what every woman on the planet desires. Nick. Their passion was explosive, their romance the stuff of songs…and it took fifteen years to get over him. Then out of the blue Nick turns up at her door, and all those years denying her ache for him are shattered with a single, smoldering kiss.

But molten passion can’t hide the secret she’s kept for all these years. Because it’s not just her heart on the line anymore…and not just her life that’ll be rocked by the revelation.

Christ, he wanted to be inside her.

He straightened from her breast, grazing her chin and mouth with his lips before dragging his thumb over her nipple. “Let me make love to you, Lauren. Right now.”

She opened her eyes, gazing up at him through heavy lids. “Nick…”

His name fell from her lips, part supplication, part request.

Without another second wasting time, he hauled her off her feet, threw her onto the bed and crushed her to the mattress with his body. He captured her lips with his, his kiss as savage as his lust. His head roared, the pain of his concussion insignificant to the dire need, the concentrated pleasure consuming him. She writhed beneath him, her hands raking over his back, her sex grinding to his erection.

Fuck, it felt so good. So good. So potent and raw. It was as if they were two horny teenagers all over again, discovering each other with the full force of hormonal need. The first time he’d possessed her they’d been just that, barely legal and so fucking on fire he’d hardly stroked into her tightness once before losing his load. The second time—fifteen minutes later—had been just as hot, just as powerful. She’d cried out his name both times, begged him for more. Told him she loved him.

And he’d buried his face in her neck, one hand on her breast, one hand knotted in the sheet of her single bed, his cock sheathed inside her wet heat, and told her he loved her too, would love her forever.

Fuck, how had he let it all go so wrong?

Fix it now. Give her everything you should have the last fifteen years. Make her remember what it was like. Make her cry your name. Make her plead for more. Make her love you again.

He tore away from the kiss, hooked his hands under the hemline of her shirt and yanked it up over her head before she could utter a sound. Her breasts jiggled with the force of his disrobing, her nipples hard points—one still trapped by the cup of her bra, one revealed to his gaze. With a growl, he ripped the skimpy undergarment apart, Lauren’s squeal making his cock jerk in his jeans.

He captured first one nipple and then the other with his mouth, suckling with ravenous want. She moaned and twisted beneath him, her fingers scraping at his shoulders. With another growl, he snatched her wrists and pinned them to the bed beside her as he thoroughly sucked on her breasts. She made sounds, sweet sounds, wordless sounds, her legs wrapping around his thighs, pulling him harder to her sex.

Nick’s heart punched faster, driving eager blood into his shaft. His pulse thumped in his ears, a rapid beat echoed by the throb in his groin. He dragged his mouth over her smooth flesh, nipping at the under swell of her breasts with increasing urgency before sliding his tongue and lips down the line of her belly to the indent of her navel.

As she always did, she hissed in a sharp breath. Lauren’s belly button was an erogenous zone and Nick wasted no time lashing it with feverish attention. He circled its circumference with the tip of his tongue, painted its shallow depths with broad strokes. She bucked each time, a hiccupping, “oh, yes, yes,” accompanying each physical reaction to his tongue’s caress.

When he felt the muscles in her thighs begin to quiver, when he felt a tremble work through her body, he moved lower. How could he not when he pulled Lauren’s scent into his being with every breath he took? He could taste her pleasure, her need on the air, a perfume so familiar to him that for a dizzying moment he almost believed he’d never been without it.

His chin nudged the waistline of her trousers. He released her wrists and fumbled with her fly, lifting his head from her belly only long enough to watch his hands slide her snug charcoal pants down over her hips.

His heart slammed into his throat. His mouth went dry. “Oh, babe…”

Beyond this pain

Six Sentence Sunday

#sixsunday is sharing another passionate moment between my hero and heroine in my vampire romance, PASSION AROUSED. (Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’m ditching that title soon.)

“I love how quickly you’re ready for me,” he whispered. Pushing her backward, he knew he had to satisfy part of his urge as best he could. Alice’s legs hit the leather couch and Bast gently encouraged her to sit at its edge.

Her breath sucked in as he knelt before her, a supplicant at a goddess’s throne. It took only a moment to peel the shorts away from her long legs. And then his worship began.

For more authors who you may or may not worship, please visit the official Six Sentence Sunday site here. And y’all, don’t tell @Karla_Doyle, but I haven’t worked on this story all week. Have another one that’s much closer to being completed. Shhh… This is between you and me. ;)

#sixsunday is discovering a passion has come to mean so much more in my vampire romance, PASSION AROUSED.

Could he possibly ever get tired of this? Of threading his fingers through a mass of tangles and curls, holding her close to him as he plunged his tongue into the sweet taste of her mouth?

She let out this amazing sound, one that called to him. It was part-whimper, part-moan. A beacon for his lust. And when she held him tighter, pressing her soft breasts against him, holding him as if her world began and ended with him, it was a love for her that responded.

Wednesdays Words: 2011 Anthology of the Year Nomination

So… You know about the anthology I’m in with @CariQuinn, @_ChristineBell and @DeeTenorio, right? It’s called Undercover Lovers. And it was just nominated as 2011 Anthology of the Year at The Romance Reviews. (Go here to check out the other great authors and books. Vote if you’d like!)

But for posterity’s sake, I had to come back and post who our little self-published book is up against because I love, love, love some of these authors like whoa. And just so we’re clear, I’m circling the names of authors I’ve personally read and loved; not just the authors I interact with regularly like PG Forte, Jenny Schwartz and JK Coi (who are all full of awesome). Alison Kent, for example, is one of the two authors who actually inspired me to pursue publication. Nalini Singh is in my top five of all-time favorite authors EVER.

How fantastic is that? (But um, yes. I voted for myself. Like you wouldn’t. Hmph.)

#sixsunday is thankful that a human would do her best to protect a vampire from the sun. I’m closing in on the end for this one!

“I think Alice here was trying to protect you from the sun’s rays.”

The dumbfounded expression morphed into an indulgent smile, one that might have tripped Alice’s heart if she wasn’t on the way to steaming mad at both men. Drew placed one hand over his abdomen, one behind his back, and bowed at the waist. Something girlish inside of her melted anyway. She could imagine him just then, donned in a long-tailed tuxedo, stiff white bowtie at the collar. Someone from a different time when men did such a noble gesture for every woman who crossed his path.

#sixsunday is an unenthusiastic audience having to put up with Sebastian and Alice’s *ahem* intimate moment  in my vampire romance, PASSION AROUSED.

“Just because I can’t see you doesn’t mean I can’t hear you. Also? The sun is about to roast me whole. Can we all at least go inside now?” Drew, on the other hand, didn’t sound the least bit amused. Or aroused.

#sixsunday is being mesmerized by a vampire, in my neverending WIP, PASSION AROUSED. I’m trying like crazy to keep y’all away from the major spoiler of the book, so there *is* a reason some of the snippets may seem a little…different.

He blended in with the night sky, only reappearing when backdropped by a contingency of stars or the bright moon. She would have loved to be lying in a field of grass, just gazing up at him as he made the sky his home.

There was a dull squeeze inside her chest as she realized this Sebastian didn’t frighten her as he probably should. That she was mesmerized and possibly intoxicated by the otherworldly beauty of the man. But he wasn’t a man any more, was he? He was a dream, scary and breathtaking and wonderful in all his majesty.

For more authors who are all pretty wonderful, please visit the official Six Sentence Sunday site here. And you know what I just realized? Today marks my 100th Six Sentence Sunday post. Whoa. Way to stick to it! :)

Six Sentence Sunday

#sixsunday is a moment of tension in my vampire romance, PASSION AROUSED. An old enemy is holding on to Alice, while a new friend has to flee.

“No!” she screamed. Cicero hauled her back against his front, ignoring the way she pedaled against the air. Alice kicked at him, fingers scrabbling against his forearms, anything to make him let go.

Her feet hit the ground at the same instant she finally caught sight of what held the crowd enthralled. The reason why Corin felt it necessary to protect his wife and their child by fleeing. Her heart threatened to kick its way out of her chest, but surprise soon gave way to despair as she stared at Sebastian.

Guest Post: Debra Moore – The Business of Writing

Authors–you’ll want to pay attention to today’s post. Yes, it’s promo for a new book, but this one is directed at authors, not readers. I’ve had the opportunity to preview Debra’s book and there are some really useful tools inside. See what she has to say…

Hey, girl! Guess what I’ve been up to?

Remember that conversation we had a while back about writers and finances? Well, I took your advice to heart and wrote the book that needs to exist! My new book, The Business of Writing, went live on Amazon last week! Unlike other finance and business books out there, this one is geared specifically to writers and the challenges we face.

I’ve been doing bookkeeping and creative writing for over twenty-five years, and I was finallyable to combine the numbers side and creative side of my brain to produce a book every writer will find useful.

My book will show how to save time and money all year long as well as during tax season. This way, writers can focus on writing instead of stressing over the financial side of the business.

In the book, I’ve included information on managing the daily bill and receipt piles with a tool called the Money Journal. There are tips and tricks on tracking all financial matters along the way quickly and easily—and in a way that will save them time and money at tax time. The book covers how the structure of our businesses is so important and can make a huge difference come tax time. Also, the book has an exhaustive list of expenses specific to writers—some that writers are probably already tracking, and many they may not be.

There is a lot more information in the book, and I included loads of links to forms I designed, spreadsheets writers would find helpful, and IRS publications every writer should know about.

I know you get financial questions all the time. Here’s the link to the Amazon page. There’s more information about everything the book contains there. I priced it economically so every writer could get one.
